COLOR RUN Memphis
THE COLOR RUN BENEFITING DENEUVILLE LEARNING CENTER
The DeNeuville Learning Center is the charity partner for a great event called the Color Run, a non-timed 5K during which participants have a different powdered COLOR thrown on them at each kilometer. The result will be a big colorful mashup of fun, cool Memphians! Proceeds from the Memphis Color Run will benefit DeNeuville. The COLOR RUN 5K will take place on Saturday morning, October 13, 2012 beginning and ending at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. Several hundred to thousands of runners are expected to participate. It is a wonderful opportunity for DeNeuville to raise money and awareness while attracting new supporters to further the mission of our organization.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
We must recruit 150 volunteers to throw color, work water stations, help with registration, and do other fun stuff on race day. We need your assistance to make the Color Run a success for the runners, Memphis, and the DeNeuville Learning Center.
Volunteers are needed from 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 13.
Interested in helping but not available on Oct. 13th? A few additional volunteers are needed to work shifts at the Sports Authority on Poplar at I-240 (Ridgeway Trace Shopping Center). See the volunteer signup page to sign up for a shift.
Please sign up to volunteer for the Color Run at www.thecolorrun.com/memphis.
FAQs
Is this a first year event?
The Color Run has taken place in cities across the country, yet this event will be Memphis’ inaugural Color Run. So please support DeNeuville by helping make Memphis’ race a fun event.
What does it cost to volunteer?
Nothing; it’s free and fun!
How long is the shift?
About six hours. We ask that volunteers arrive at 6:00 a.m. for specific volunteer assignments.
Will I receive anything for volunteering?
Yes, you will receive an official Color Run volunteer t-shirt.
What will I be doing at the race?
Runners will expect to have colored powder thrown on them as they run the course, and we need volunteers to do the throwing! There will also be other areas requiring assistance such as registration, water stations, clean up, and more.
What should I wear?
Clothes that you don’t mind getting colored. You are also welcome to wear glasses or goggles and use a bandana or dust mask for your mouth.
So, what really IS the color that we will throw?
It is corn starch that is 100% natural and safe.
Is there a minimum age requirement for volunteering?
